Detailed itinerary
Start your day early with a packed breakfast and meet your driver-guide for a transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, a 2-hour scenic drive from Kigali. Upon arrival at Kinigi Park Headquarters, join other trekkers for a pre-trek briefing on gorilla trekking rules and safety guidelines.
At 8:00 AM, begin your guided hike through the misty rainforest to track one of the 13 habituated mountain gorilla families in the park, such as Susa A, Amahoro, or Kwitonda. The trek typically lasts 2–6 hours, including a magical one-hour encounter with the gorillas in their natural habitat. Along the way, enjoy views of other primates, birds, and rich plant life.
After your trek, return to Kinigi, reunite with your guide, and drive back to Kigali—concluding your unforgettable 1-day Rwanda gorilla safari.
