Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Start your safari with a guided Kigali city tour, visiting highlights such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local art markets, and craft centers. After lunch, drive 2–3 hours to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, Northern Rwanda. Upon arrival, relax at your lodge and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trek. Time permitting, enjoy a cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a taste of traditional Rwandan life.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, report to Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You’ll then set off into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family—a thrilling trek that typically lasts 3–6 hours, including a life-changing 1-hour face-to-face encounter with the mountain gorillas. After the trek, return to Kigali, with drop-off at your hotel or airport if your flight is in the evening.
