Day 1: Kampala to Kibale N/Park, Kabarole district in the western safari circuit

On Day 1, you’ll leave Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning and drive for 5-6 hours to Kibale Forest National Parkin Western Uganda. During the drive, enjoy scenic views of crater lakes and tea plantations. Upon reaching the park, you’ll check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 starts with a hearty breakfast before a briefing on chimpanzee tracking at the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre. After the briefing, embark on the exciting chimpanzee trek, where you may also encounter other primates like L’Hoest monkeys, baboons, and colobus monkeys. Afterward, you’ll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (a 3-hour drive), where you’ll stay at your chosen lodge.

On Day 3, your day begins with a safari game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. Expect to see a variety of wildlife, including buffaloes, warthogs, lions, leopards, and elephants. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a great way to observe hippos, crocodiles, and water birds up close. Afterward, you’ll return to your lodge for the night.

Day 4 begins with a morning breakfast followed by a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector, where you may get lucky enough to spot the famous tree-climbing lions. Enjoy stunning landscapes and a delicious lunch at Savanna Resort before continuing to your lodge in Bwindi for dinner and an overnight stay.

On Day 5, you’ll participate in the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking. After breakfast, a briefing at the park offices will prepare you for the trek. Expect a challenging yet rewarding adventure through the forest to see the endangered mountain gorillas. After spending one hour with the gorillas, return to your lodge. In the evening, enjoy a cultural experience with the Batwa Pygmies, learning about their traditional lifestyle and history.

Day 6 concludes your safari with a long drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, taking 8-10 hours. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch and visit the Equator for a photo opportunity before heading back to your departure point.
